Mission Statement:
The mission of the Montour School High School Counseling Program is to enable all high school students 9-12 to experience educational success by providing guidance in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development; counseling to help students overcome challenges that interfere with learning; and advocacy for an environment that supports high achievement for all students. Through our comprehensive developmental model we will assist all students in acquiring the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to become effective students, responsible citizens, productive workers, and lifelong learners.
Philosophy Statement
The Montour High School Counselors adhere to the philosophy that all students can be successful and that a school counseling program is an essential and integral part of Montour School District's overall education process. The comprehensive developmental guidance program is built on the assumption that educational, career, and personal objectives are attainable when school counseling is provided for all students. Growth and learning are developmental; therefore school counseling programs must be developmental and sequential. The 9-12 developmental counseling program is concerned with all students, with the goal of being proactive as well as crisis-oriented. The high school counselors believe their focus must move from service-centered for some of the students to program-centered for every student.
